As a mum or carer of young children, working from home can make a profound difference to your lifestyle choices - offering greater flexibility, increased savings and more quality time to spend with your family.
This website is geared at helping mums (dads and carers too!) of young children live a more comfortable, flexible life by changing simple concepts of work-styles and routines, but not necessarily changing your job - unless of course you want to!
The principles you will learn involve living smarter and happier and reaping the many benefits that flow on through implementing simple changes, including: saving hundreds or even thousands of dollars per year; working less hours to earn the same income; reducing your need for child care; being able to claim back some of your household bills, and much more....
Teleworking is not a job, it's a way of working. It involves working away from the traditional workplace using some form of technology or information communications to connect to your workplace, your customers or co-workers. Therefore, working from home using your personal computer, or even simply a telephone, is considered teleworking. In fact, working on your laptop at the beach is also teleworking.
The beauty of telework is that it is highly location-independent, i.e., it doesn't matter where you do the work. Therefore, jobs that ARE location-dependent (such as retail sales, nursing, etc) are not as suitable for telework.
There are currently over 2.6 million Australians who telework to some extent. Of these, about 500,000 are working mums. Some of these workers telework on a full-time basis, part-time or even temporary basis.
